Sebangau National Park


Sebangau Park was established in 2004 as a National Park Reserve by the World Wildlife Fund to protect the unique peat swamp rainforest eco-system and to create a sustainable ecotourism project.
The program of the WWF to sustain the forest with tourism activities and income for the locals to protect swamp low land rain forest of Sebangau has lead now-a-days that the World Wildlife Fund have build a tourist eco-lodge in the Sebangau National Park Reserve to support the project and develop interest of travelers for this attractive exotic endemic Borneo wildlife destination.

The park is located in Central Kalimantan at Indonesian chunk of Borneo island, close to the province Capital Palangkaraya. Tourist Visitors can reach the jungle wildlife reserve, by motor-canoe, kayaking the swamp river system to navigate in to the National park.
Once a traveler enter by kayaking through the black water swamps forest in to Sebangau Park, they will be greeted by the sweet earthy sharp smell of flowering plants and ferns of the wide peatland forest which aroma is an experience itself.
During the rain forest trek, tourist visitors enjoy the jungle sounds of the National Park in search to spot some of the wildlife as pure wild clouded leopards, pig-tailed macaque, proboscis, or long-nosed, monkeys, orangutans in the canopy tree tops of the jungle.



SEBANGAU ORANGUTAN ADVENTURE

Day 01: PALANGKARAYA, PANGGU ALAS SEBANGAU (LD)
Upon arrival at Palangkaraya airport (morning flight only), short meeting service, and drive by car for about 3 hours to Baon Bango harbor, as the jump off point sail by canoe in to the jungle of Sebangau park, which a bit upon the conditions is between the 2 and 3 hours sail, during the cruise you can enjoy the jungle along the river banks when lucky you can spot some wildlife as proboscis monkeys, crocodiles, and lot’s of bird species on the way, lunch en route at restaurant. Dinner at camp in Sebangau Park, overnight at Eco Lodge Sebangau, upon conditons of the water level, in the evening possibility for night trek
Note: if not possible due of late arrival/delay to reach Sebanggau Park, stay one night at Baon Bango village

Day 2: PANGGU ALAS, ORANGUTAN ISLANDS, PALANGKARAYA (BLD)
Early morning simple breakfast at camp, before we start a morning trek in search for orangutans and other wildlife, before we sail back to Baon Bango to continue by car to Tangkiling, for canoe sail along the Orangutan Island to spot Orangutans from the canoe, if time is enough we can visit the Museum of Balanga to learn about the history and life traditions of the Dayak tribes at Kalimantan as the native tribe of Borneo, afterwards transfer by car to Palangkaraya hotel, Lunch en route, evening visit the Dayak night market, and dinner at local restaurant

Day 03: PALANGKARAYA, DEPARTURE (B)
Breakfast at hotel, free at own leisure till transfer time to airport of Palangkaraya to catch your flight to your next destination.
