Berau is a region in East Kalimantan province of Indonesian Borneo Island which consist a large nature jungle heritage biodiversity, beside the main tourist known Derawan Archipelago as a paradise white palm beaches and blue lagoon sea bounty islands destination. The un-explored jungle lands of unique tropical rain forest slopes and valleys Mountains is of the largest untouched and diverse of its kind in East Kalimantan.
The orangutan population in Berau region, is the largest population of wild Orangutans at Borneo Island, and due of the tourism boom and development of the Derawan Archipelago with its resorts and budget guesthouses at Sangalaki, Maratua, and Derawan tropical bounty islands, Berau therefor has declared several regions as protected rain forest zones to boost the nature conservation tourist activities, include the preservation of the orangutans for Tourism.
Maratua is the largest island with its 2.400 hectares in the Derawan archipel, and far the most beautiful Island. The long streched white beaches, with Palm trees, make it a bounty island perfect as a leisure destination after a jungle or cultural trip at Kalimantan. Maratua count two villages of the Bajau tribe also known as the seamen, the small lake, caves, and mangrove forest at the island make it more diverse then the other islands in the archipelago. This Island has wide coral reefs and is very suitable for canoe trips, water skiing, and scuba diving.

Upon arrival at Berau airport, short meeting service by your guide, transfer by car/minibus to hotel, upon flight schedule possibility for sightseeing in town, to explore the live of the locals, dinner at local restaurant, overnight at hotel in Berau
Day 02: BERAU, BENUA BARU DAYAK VILLAGE, MERASA ORANGUTAN JUNGLE TREK, BERAU (BLD)
Breakfast at Hotel, transfer for about one hour by car to Benua Baru Dayak Kayan village, you are welcomed by a Dayak ceremony, and will explore the Dayak arts of Benua Baru are extra ordinary and vibrant designs, statutes and the characteristic flowing geometrical used in portraying scenes of jungle life comes from Chinese and Vietnamese Dong Son influences. Woman with the Long Ears and tattoo can be found here as one of the last memorable Dayak Culture signs, in the rapidly changing Kalimantan development, continue by car for about one hour to Merasa village along the Lesan river, to catch a motor-canoe upstream for about 2 hours, you will enjoy the scenery of the river banks filled with tranquil greenery of lowland and towering dipterocarps trees which remark as the start of getting into the dark Borneo Jungle, during the cruise you might spot various wildlife from otters, monkeys to birds species. Visit Pulau Bawan as the Orangutan Island in the Lesan River, afterwards a short jungle trek, upon the field condition, possibility to the waterfall, old Dayak grave and limestone cave. Breakfast at hotel, free at own leisure till transfer to harbour Berau for speedboat sail to Maratua Island. Check in at Resort, free at own leisure, dinner at Resort.
Day 04-06: MARATUA (BLD)
Breakfast at hotel, possibility of free at own leisure at your terrace to overlook the blue lagoon sea, soaking the swimming pool, or snorkelling the see reefs in front of the resort, kayaking the salt lake near the resort, or cycling the mangrove forest or Bajau fishermen’s villages at the island till transfer to harbour Berau for speedboat sail to Maratua Island. Check in at Resort, free at own leisure, dinner at Resort.
Day 07: MARATUA, SANGALAKI, KAKABAN, DERAWAN (BLD)
Breakfast at the Resort, free at own leisure till transfer time to Sangalaki and Kakaban island, Sangalaki is know of it’s Huge Manta reef, where you can swim and snorkel with the Manta’s, also the green turtles can be found at the sea banks of this unhabituated island, Kakaban is known of it’s jelly fish lake, surrounded by the mangrove forest, with amazing view, underwater you can find it’s coral reef, and Cave point is a cave of about 120 meters long with at the end a Blue sea light, late afternoon we continue to Derawan, dinner and overnight at Resort
Day 08: DERAWAN, BERAU (B)
After breakfast start our trip cross the sea by boat to Berau for your flight to your next destination.
