Kota Bangun is a small city upstream Mahakam River, as a jump off point for a cruise trip over the big lakes of the Mahakam River. The Jempang and Semayan Lakes are wide water reservoirs of the Mahakam River. The lakes are the habitat of the fresh water dolphins, lots of birds, and a wealth of fish for the locals. Villages as Muara Muntai, and Jantur are fishermens villages, at the villages Macong and Tanjung Isuy one can find the Dayak culture and longhouse arts.
